HP LaserJet 2420d printer user reviews
The only problem we hit was that once the software setup was complete, the 2420d refused to offer a duplexing option in its printer dialogue, offering just manual duplex. We got round this by switching on the ‘duplex option installed’ switch in the driver, but in the ‘d’ version of the printer duplexing is standard, not an option, and should have been sensed at install time. Once set, the duplex function worked as expected."
Strengths: Fast printer that does great duplexing
Weaknesses: Pricey without networking
Overall Evaluation: This is a great printer. As a previous owner of a 2300 series printer, main difference is the speed (30ppm). Design of case is good. Makes quality printouts. No manual provided except on CD if you want to print it out. This printer only comes with a startup foldout poster. For $650, you would think that network connectivity would be included. Of course, HP can provide that for $250 more!"
Pros: High quality, fast, reliable
Cons: None for me
Summary: I run a small business and have used the HP LaserJet 2420d for two years. I've had absolutely no problems with it. The print quality is excellent, it's fast, the toner cartridge lasts a very long time. This printer has been perfectly reliable over two years of daily use.
IMHO, there are so many bad reviews for printers here on CNET, because those people who encounter problems with their printers are much more likely to post a review. On the other hand, people for whom the product worked perfectly don't necessarily feel compelled to post their positive rating. IMHO there may have been a thousand satisfied users for every 1 user who encountered a problem, but only the person who encountered a problem posted their low rating. So, the user ratings quite likely get skewed. "
