Brother HL-5250DN Laser Printer user reviews

"Strengths: Fast, sharp images, duplexing and book printing. Cheap operating costs.
Weaknesses: I've found no weaknesses.
Overall Evaluation: I use duplexing lots. I got the DT (double tray) model and while seldon using legal, it's a nice addition. I've had many laser machines in my store, but this is the greatest. You can also refill the cartridges cheaply."

"Great printer for sure. I've only just bought and installed it, but it is a testament to Brother and their team that I was able to get this printer up and running in literally 5 minutes. I am running Vista Ultimate 64 bit on my desktop and Vista Home Premium on my laptop and after connecting the printer to my D-Link DIR-655 wireless router I was able to print from both workstations with no fuss. The software automatically detects and loads the drivers for you, there is no experience necessary to get this baby up and running. The one downside that I could mention about this printer is how loud it gets while printing, and this is just a nitpick because at idle it is silent and it prints super fast."

"Pros: Excellent printer for the money... Crisp fonts and b&w diagrams, automatic duplex, holds over half a ream of paper, warms up and prints pages very quickly, cheap toner to pages print cost, network interface built-in (a must have in my situation), works with Linux and Windows
Cons: paper tends to curl although I'm using cheap bulk multipurpose paper but for my needs this is acceptable, adjusting the paper type settings doesn't seem to effect the heat output much, if at all, so even when set to use different paper types it still curls just as much
Other Thoughts: As a grad student I need to print a lot and this has already saved me a lot more cash since I purchased it than using my OfficeJet. Last semester alone I went through 5 reams of paper and 6 ink cartridges for my OfficeJet ($25/cartridge (more than the cost I paid for this printer)) printing off papers , reports, and research work. Since this semester started (2 weeks ago) I've already used half a ream of paper which would have killed at least one inkjet cartridge using draft printing mode but with this printer I'm no where near the end of the toner's lifespan, networking capabilities was a must have since I have a multiple computers I use on my network frequently and most of the other network ready printers were much more expensive than this one "

"This printer was selected for a ticket printing application for a small commercial business.
Product is very duarble in daily use of 100-300 sheets. Toner last a long time. Paper feed is quick and does not jam. Great print quality.
This is an excellent choice for laser black and white printer in high demand for a small network of users.
Do not have any negetive issues on this machine as of date." "

"What a bang for your buck! This printer just printed a 30 page end of year report, duplexed, in 48 seconds. For good laser reports it can't be beat. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and have been very pleased. As with all lasers the paper curls when using the 20# stuff. I have run checks, statements and reports with no big problems. The only complaint is there is not much space for the printed papers to accumulate. If you have more than 25 sheets or so you need to remove them as they accumulate. For this kind of money you can't go wrong! "
